Aim
LANCES project acts to foster, implement and widen active citizenship perspective based on common European values, respectful of cultural diversities and inclusiveness, through the development of training paths for all citizens, and mainly for those generally excluded from participatory practices. We intend to transform educational policies on Active Citizenship and as well the trainers' role, through the updating of methodologies and tools in this field, taking into account the specific needs of vulnerable groups.
Approach

Stakeholders Our commitment with local, national and European networks is central. The key stakeholders are called to play an important role in Lances, from the design to the assessment phase to overcome together the critical issues, which hinder a wider citizens' participation. (Municipalities, Regions, Provinces, Lifelong Learning Centres, Popular Universities, Citizens' neighborhood centres, Third Sector organisations)
Outputs - Activities - A project dissemination plan.
- A quality plan.
- 5 national stakeholders' maps for the direct involvement of local key actors in the project activities.
- 2 research reports on the level of participation and active citizenship in Europe and a collection of European educational best practices in this field.
- A project website.
- An ODL learning platform addressed especially to young users.
- Testing of 4 local workshops on the European participatory methodology of the Scenario Workshop in Germany, Bulgaria, Romania and Italy; a comparative analysis of the respective local results.
- 4 public meetings in Berlin, Sofia, Calarasi (Romania) and Rome.
- 3 training modules (180 hours totally) on active citizenship tested in Rome, Berlin and Sofia and addressed to around 150 citizens (2009-2010).
- A training handbook with didactic/methodological tools for educational staff (teachers, trainers, facilitators, operators of the local integrated systems)
Four public meetings 2009-2010: 4 public events in Germany, Bulgaria, Romania and Italy promote Lances on going activities and to disseminate and valorise the final project results. Around 20-30 participants directly involved each time

Scenario Workshop 2009-2010: realisation of 4 local methodological workshops in Germany, Bulgaria, Romania and Italy, finalised to transfer the European Scenario Workshop partecipatory methodology to citizens, teachers/trainers, 3rd Sector representatives, local administrator and politicians
